Battle Ravaged Robot (1998)

A toy based on the 1998 Lost in Space remake movie. I distinctly remember getting one of these from the Kay-Bee Toys at our local mall back in the day. I never saw the movie, I just thought the robot looked cool. This one is a recent eBay purchase. There are still a number of these available in-box. Probably the result of collectors who didn't foresee the movie flopping, or unsold stock. The red-eye torso snaps on and off in two pieces. There's a spring catch that makes the robot pop-up when you insert something in the slot in the back—I'm not sure why. The blue torso snaps on pretty snugly, and there's no lever to dislodge it with the action. It alternates between an alarm noise and saying "Must protect Robinson family" (or something like that, I don't have the batteries in it right now) when the button on the front is pressed. It runs on button cells, which do leak after 26 years. I had to clean up the battery compartment.
