Pizza
Crust
- 1 package active dry yeast / 2 1/2 tsp. instant yeast
- 1 tsp. white sugar
- 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 2 1/2 cups bread flour (or general purpose)
- 2 tblsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. onion powder
Sauce
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 2 tsp.s oregano
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tsp. basil
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. onion powder (optional)
- a few pinches of red pepper flakes (optional)
Also
- ~2 cups shredded mozarella
- Any toppings
- Preheat oven to 450°F/230°C.
- In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water
- Let stand until foamy, about 10 minutes (Only a few minutes if using instant
yeast)
- Mix sauce ingredients in a saucepan and let simmer for about 30 minutes
- Mix flour, salt, and seasonings in a separate bowl
- Stir dry mix and olive oil into yeast mixture (let stand 5 minutes if
not using instant yeast)
- Turn dough out on to a greased baking sheet (olive oil works well)
- Spread dough evenly to the edges
- Poke holes/dents into the dough with a fork or spiked roller
- Spread sauce on dough, then add cheese and toppings
- Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown
- Let cool for 5 minutes
