Game Room

A sleek black wedge with a silver band across it. There is a thin rainbow stripe across the silver band. There is a row of buttons along the front top, and a cartridge protrudes from the rear top. Something is plugged into the front.

Atari 7800 ProSystem

The 7800 ProSystem was Atari's 2nd attempt at a successor to their 2600. Unlike the 5200 it is backwards compatible with 2600 games.

My brother found this in a thrift store. It was complete with controllers, cables, and a few games for a good price. There were also some other video game odds and ends in the crate.

A close up of a black appliance. There is connector on the right and a cable with a strain-relief-gland on the left.

I installed the Ultimate Atari Video external link Mod for composite video output. There was an Atari 2600 Plug-n-Play® in the crate from the thrift store. It's redundant for me with my large collection of 2600 games. So I used the cable from it to feed composite video out of the 7800. I managed to wedge the cable gland into an existing opening in a way that almost looks stock!

Although the included controllers work fine, they aren't very pleasant to use. I made some custom arcade-style ones to use instead.
